Letter from the Pastor

A Word from Graham

DEAR FRIENDS,
This past year has been like no other.  Our entire community has had to adjust in ways that we never imagined.  Businesses have had to make massive shifts just to keep moving forward.  Schools have had to make herculean changes just to teach kids the basics.  And churches like ours have had to pivot, adjust, change, and learn new skills just to provide for people's spiritual needs.

I am so proud of what our church has been able to accomplish together through this difficult moment.  Our staff and session have all worked so hard to stay ahead of the challenges that we face.  Our deacons have cared for the needs of so many people.  Our volunteers have chipped in like never before.  Many thanks to all of you!

This year's stewardship campaign theme is Legacy. What is a legacy?  Simply put, it is what we leave behind after we're finished.  Our legacy is the thing that lasts, long after this current moment has passed.  Our legacy is also what we leave behind financially for the next generation.  As a church, we ask ourselves, what financial sacrifices are we making today for those who come after us?  What is our financial legacy?  It is not an overstatement to say that the sacrifices that we make today will continue to help this Church thrive, so that this generation, and generations that come after us, will have the possibility of a life of faith.

I hope that you take this moment to first thank God for what God has done for us at this time.  I also hope that you consider making a more substantial financial gift than perhaps you've ever done before, for the sake of our church, for the sake of the future, for the sake of our collective legacies.

One of my favorite worship songs is called "The Blessing", and includes the lyrics, "May his favor be upon you, and a thousand generations, and your family and your children, and their children, and their children."  May God's favor be upon you too!  Let's build a legacy together!

In Christ,
Graham Baird
